CRUZ PEDREGON TO RACE DODGE BODIES IN 2019

Two-time NHRA Funny car champion Cruz Pedregon will make a manufacturer switch in 2019, stepping away from Toyota to Dodge bodies.

“We are going to have Dodge Charger bodies,” Pedregon confirmed Friday, January 11, in a Facebook live broadcast. “I am very excited about that. I’ve been with Toyota for many years but times have changed. We have moved on, and we wish them luck in the future.

“I’ve been a Dodge fan for many years. It’s good to be with them, and I look forward to a long term relationship.”

Glen Huszar will serve as the team’s crew chief while Pedregon will tune the car himself.

“I trust me, my instincts, my way of doing things, my dedication and commitment to winning and performing so I’m going to go back to doing what I did in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, and tune the car. I am going to make the decisions. That way i won’t have anyone to get mad at if the car doesn’t go down the track. That’s going to be on my shoulders.

“Glen has an opportunity to make his mark running the team, not that he didn’t do that before. His responsibilities will be more car-oriented, the physical car. The assembly of that. There are so many details that one guy cannot possibly do them all effectively.”

Pedregon also confirmed he’s signed Nick Carsertano, most recently with Bob Tasca Racing, to join his team.

The Snap-on Tools team will unveil a new silver and black scheme for the 2019 season during the PRO Winter Warm-up test session in Phoenix, Az., later this month. The scheme will also have some red highlights.

“It will probably be one of the better-looking cars we’ve had, and we’ve had some pretty cars,” Pedregon said. “The internal art department has done a really good job of designing cars that are cool. This year they have knocked it out of the park.”
