NHRA Reveals 2020 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Schedule

The National Hot Rod Association today revealed the 2020 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule, which will again feature 24 events contested at venues from coast to coast and spanning parts of 10 months.

The 2020 season will be highlighted by two significant anniversaries: the 60th running of the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals at historic Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, California, and the golden anniversary of Pro Stock eliminator. A number of special events at stops all along the tour will commemorate Pro Stock’s history and heritage.

While each of the current venues will return to the schedule next season, there are a number of changes that will shift the order of the events. The Virginia NHRA Nationals in Richmond, Virginia move to the end of the month, on May 29-31. The Route 66 NHRA Nationals in Chicago will take place July 9-12, prior to the start of the Western Swing. The NHRA New England Nationals will move to the end of summer, August 21-23. Part of the Countdown to the Championship postseason, the NHRA Carolina Nationals in Charlotte, N.C. will move to September 25-27, and the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals in St. Louis will commence October 2-4.

Details regarding the 2020 schedule for Pro Stock, Pro Modified, the Factory Stock Showdown, Nitro Harley, and the various sportsman eliminators is expected at a later time.

All 24 events will once again be broadcast exclusively on FOX Sports, with selected events during on the fOX broadcast network. Over 575 hours of television programming is planned.
