JOHN FORCE RACING DOMINATES DAY TWO P.R.O. VEGAS TEST SESSION

John Force Racing dominated the second day of testing at the Professional Racers Organization annual preseason test, held this year at The Strip In Las Vegas.

Top Fuel sophomore Austin Prock (Top Fuel) and Robert Hight (Funny Car) posted the quickest runs.

Prock, the Auto Club Road to the Future award recipient for being the top running rookie of 2019, saved his best for last by blasting out only the second 3.6 lap of the event with a 3.682 elapsed time at 333.08 miles per hour.

“We’ve been working really hard all offseason trying to make this thing the best it can be, and it’s shown a lot of promise,” Prock said. “This morning, we went out there and had really good numbers, quicker than that run that we ran to the stripe, and tomorrow morning we’re going to try and go and improve it quite a bit, and I think we can.”

It was one year ago, at the end of the Day Two of the PRO Winter Warm-up, then held at Wild Horse Motorsports Park outside of Phoenix, that his crew raced to get his unpainted dragster to the starting line for his first run. When the tree dropped, the RPMs soared almost as high as the flames on his dragster.

This time Prock looked the part of a contender.

“We got a core group of guys that’s been together since last year’s West Coast Swing, and we’ve been working together since and it’s just a promising feeling that everyone’s jelling well and it shows on the race track,” Prock explained. “We had an offseason actually to prepare, get all our projects finished up and come out here swinging, and the car’s hauling the mail.”

Doug Kalitta was second quickest with a 3.685, 314.17.

Thursday’s top runner Antron Brown (3.725), was third, followed by Leah Pritchett (3.741), Clay Millican (3.780), Shawn Langdon (3.786), and Brittany Force (3.824).

Defending Funny Car champion Hight was once again the class of the field running a pair of 3.80s as the day concluded. His 3.839 elapsed time (334.40 mph) stands as the quickest of two days of Funny Car testing.

“Jimmy [Prock] and Chris [Cunningham] and the whole Auto Club team have done a great job,” Hight said. “It’s amazing; we’ve still yet to fail to go down the track. So we’re going to push tomorrow, push even harder because Jimmy feels there’s another couple hundredths out there.

“And honestly, I feel we’re ready to go to Pomona, but we’re also going to try some new things, and that’s why we’re here testing, try new things, get better. And this Camaro has been amazing, four runs and all four runs have been in the 80s, so good job, team AAA.”

John Force was second quickest with a 3.854 best.

Other notable passes included Matt Hagan (3.881), J.R. Todd (3.883), and Jack Beckman (3.885).

Testing concludes on Saturday when the action is scheduled to resume at 9 AM EST.
