Working on swapping out my longer geared 5-speed that’s paired with a 4.3 diff to a shorter geared 6-speed and a 3.636 diff. The reason being 6-speed and 3.636 are much stronger for the power of my new motor. I was calculating my top speed for each gear and found the MPHs are identical in both setups for gears 1 through 5.
Does this mean I won’t notice a difference in my acceleration if I swap my new transmission and diff in now before I get my bigger horsepower motor since the top speed of each gear is the same? It kinda looks like the shorter transmission gearing negates any adverse effects of the taller final drive gearing but my brain says it’s not that simple.
